The PACS Shell has been in Sprayway's range for some time now and I reviewed it last year. The latest version has been improved by the addition of a map pocket under the front flap into which the jacket can be stuffed for storage. You can also carry maps in the chest pockets. Last year I worried that the vents behind the chest pockets might leak in heavy rain but this hasn't happened yet. Indeed, I've found that much of the time the mesh-lined pockets can be left unzipped for even more ventilation without rain getting in. There's a big vent on the back too but this is covered by a rucksack and so neither leaks nor lets moisture in. The hood, with its large wired peak, gives great protection though it doesn't move with your head. The weight is low for a Gore-Tex jacket and the price reasonable. For all but the worst winter weather this is a good jacket.
