Snugpak Insulated Jackets - Arrowhead, Spearhead and Tomahawk

Snugpak are experts at keeping you warm asleep or awake. Their range of sleeping bags have been ensuring sound sleep since 1977 and they are still doing it today. The range of products has continued to grow and includes some great garments many of them still made in the UK.

The insulated jackets we are looking at in this review all share some features. They all have detachable hood with volume adjustment, they all have four pockets, two hip pockets and internal pocket and a smaller break pocket, all of them have zip closures. The cuffs have velcro tabs to keep the cold out and the main zip on each jacket closes up to the collar.

The three jackets, the Arrowhead, Spearhead and Tomahawk come in Olive and Snugpak Multi Camouflage pattern with the Arrowhead also coming in Black. The outer fabric for all three jackets is their fine weave Paratex polyester. The neck on each jacket has a micro fleece panel which adds to the comfort. They all come with a stuff sack for storage. The daddy of the family, the Tomahawk which features a scoop back giving you even more protection from the cold.

We have had the jackets out in all manner of 2023/2024 winter weather and so far nothing has defeated them. Showers, sleet, snow, rain and of course the British wind. The UK winter temperatures have not impacted any of the jackets and the coldest we managed to get to was around -8° F.

The insulation used on all the jackets is Snugpak Softie polyester which has been a main stay for insulated clothing, the Snugpak sleeping bags use the ‘premier’ version of the insulation.

The overall impression for the Snugpak family of insulated jackets is very satisfactory. The fit and build quality is really good and the materials used to create the jackets is of a very high standard. In use the jackets give a reassuring sense of protection and I will be using them again for any cold weather outings (I hate being cold!).
