Walking on the Isles of Scilly
Conclusions and Contacts
A very different UK destination and one which I hope to return to. Perfect for a week long a short break and diverse enough to keep you occupied every day. There are other aspects of the islands that will appeal to BlueDome readers. The opportunity for sea kayak trips and sailing breaks has not been looked at on this visit and I think that anyone who enjoys sea angling would be kept busy here too.

On the subject of sea fishing I think that the growing interest in Salt Water flyfishing could be a popular attraction. Late April brings the Gig World Championships to the islands and although the place is busy you will still be able to find placers to stay to witness the racing. An Autumn walking festival is also something that is being considered so keep looking out for more information. It could be the perfect late season walking destination.
An essential book is the Cicerone Press guide called Walking in The Isles of Scilly by Paddy Dillon. It is one of the shortest guidebooks published by Cicerone Press but is full of information about the islands, their wildlife, history and culture and also has 11 well written walks for the reader to enjoy.
