Steve
Macdonald BSc Hons, AFRGS - among
other positions has been a project co-ordinator
for one of Britains top children's
charities, now promoted to head a regional
office. He is an accomplished sportsman
having competed at national level in athletics,
football and blind-cricket. He enjoys
many other sports including: skiing; gliding;
scuba diving and hill walking. Steve is
firmly established as an expedition leader
having led numerous smaller walking and
cycling expeditions, these culminating
in the organisation and leading of the
first ever circumnavigation of mainland
Britain in a double sea kayak. He has
not rested on his achievements having
recently taken part in the first ever
crossing of the English Channel by traditional
Chinese Dragon Boat, and now organises
many corporate hospitality events including
a celebrity cycle ride from John O' Groats
to Lands' End. In 1999 he plans to walk
across Australia helping to recreate a
historical expedition. It is perhaps that
Steve is registered as blind, coupled
with his adventurous spirit, that allows
him to command such a good level of media
support.
Ben
Sturt BA Hons, FRGS -
has recently left London after working
for SMI, a leading international conference
production and publishing company. He
has also worked in sports marketing and
at top children's charity SPARKS, as an
Event / Project Manager. Ben is a keen
sportsman competing at national level
in Athletics, enjoying many other sports
such as Mountaineering, Hill Walking,
Kayaking, Running, Swimming and Fly-fishing.
He has also walked extensively in British
Columbia and New Zealand. Ben also played
an active part in Steve's Canoe Expedition
with the role of Logistics/PR Co-ordinator.
Ben now plans to walk across Australia
with Steve, following Captain Charles
Sturt's original route of 1844 - 1845.
