Ski Hosts Wanted

Job Description: Ski Host – Italian Dolomites

This really is a ‘ski job’ with a difference, and it would be fair to say it might be one of the few of its kind on offer in the industry. As a ‘Ski Host’ you would spend half of your time accompanying guests on our ‘Hosted Ski Days’ around the amazing ski area, which is the Dolomiti Superski area, with 1200 km of piste under one pass.

You would be based in a team of four hosts, helping to look after up to 30+ guests staying in one of our Chalet/Hotels each week.
Our guests are ski and outdoor enthusiasts, and as an enthusiast yourself, your primary role is to help them to get the best out of their holiday with us.

Each evening we host an informal gathering in the chalet bar (Office Hour) to help guests sort out their skiing plans for the next day. We also look after guests who intend to snowshoe or cross-country ski locally. So, as well as being a competent skier it would also help if you were an experienced hill walker, who can advise guests on itineraries which might be safe and enjoyable for them based on their experience.

Every other day you would be accompanying guests skiing, on itineraries designed to show them the best of the skiing and the wonderful scenery in the area. Looking after their safety and welfare en route is paramount, as is chatting and getting to know them as you go. A lunch stop at a mountain ‘Rifugio’ is a big part of the day, as well as a coffee stop or two. These days are the opportunity to really get to know your guests. The experiences shared and life stories divulged form weekly relationships which enhance the experience of everyone back in the chalets, guest and staff alike.

The days in between would involve Office Hour each evening, and eating with your guests as a Dinner Host in the chalet. Whilst some other odd jobs might need doing, there is normally plenty of free time on these days to ski, snowshoe or whatever takes your fancy.

Sunday is our changeover day, when members of the team act as Reps on transfer coaches, and for the rest of the day, help to settle in arriving guests at the chalet, and accompany them to ski hire to get their equipment for the week. These can be long and tiring days when the team must pull together to give their guests the smoothest start to their holiday possible.

This is a genuine hospitality job, which requires a lot of your time and focus on your guests. If you are looking for a party season, then the Dolomites are not the place to do this. You have to enjoy people as much as much as you enjoy the outdoors for this experience to work.
