Deputy Centre Manager

Mount Cook Adventure Centre is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing access to the outdoors to all, especially young people and those would not otherwise have the opportunity. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced customer service practitioner. Are you a hard-working, passionate and talented individual, who is looking for a challenge outside the standard 9-5 job? As Deputy Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating the departments to ensure all our guests receive a World Class customer experience. Reliable & enthusiastic, you will have a positive 'can do' attitude with a strong emphasis on customer focus. We expect the candidate to be trustworthy and dependable with an ability to excel under pressure and by your own initiative but also, fit well as part of a growing team.

Mount Cook are looking for the following from a successful candidate:
* Someone who must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of supervising and managing a team of housekeeping & front of house staff within a hotel/hostel or similar environment
* Possess the ability to keep staff motivated during long and demanding shifts
* Must be commercially aware, understanding the importance of working within costs & departmental budgets
* Must possess excellent personal presentation
* Proven standards of IT skills and good standards of numeracy & literacy
* Must be highly customer focused with excellent communication skills both face to face, on the telephone and via email
* Must be highly organised and well versed in completing paperwork
* Will be an excellent team player whilst having first class attention to detail
* Must be self-driven and be able to work within a large team and be able & willing to be 'hands-on' at all times
* Willing and able to work flexibly to meet the seven days a week nature of the business
* Experience of cash handling and end of shift procedures in a similar setting
* Desirably have experience in running a bar and stock ordering
* Desirably have experience of outdoor activities

Mount Cook Adventure Centre currently consists of a small, dynamic team who share a passion for success, working out of their comfort zone at times to ensure delivery of a World Class experience. This role may therefore require the undertaking of a variety of tasks in other departments within the operations of a busy residential centre.
