Reporting To: Chief Instructor (Woodmill)
Liaison With: Lead Instructor, Training Manager

Role Purpose: (how your role contributes to the mission)
Instructors will deliver a broad range of quality outdoor activity sessions; having responsibilities for the welfare of participants in their care. With support and guidance from the Lead Instructor the post holder will contribute to the service delivery standards of the charity.

Detailed outputs:

* Uphold health and safety standards
* Contribute to the security of the site and premises while on shift by challenging unidentified visitors and returning equipment after use
* Act to reduce supporter and staff accidents below the annual targets
* To supervise and be responsible for junior and youth groups as required
* Happy Supporters who will recommend Active Nation activities to others
* Deliver high quality experiences and training courses
* Uphold customer service standards
* Safe and efficient management of centre assets
* To inspect equipment on a regular basis reporting defect as per centre procedures
* To undertake cleaning duties as and when required ensuring that all check sheets are completed and signed accordingly

Contract specific outputs:
KPD 1 - Finance

* With training and support undertake 'Front of House; duties as required, which will include sales, processing bookings, providing accurate bookings advice
* Follow the charity*s cash handling policy including end of day reconciliation

KPD 2 - Sales, marketing & Product development
* With Training operate the Centre*s computerised admission control/booking system
* To assist with the promotion of the centre and its programme as required
* In line with the business plans, marketing and improvement plan contribute to and co-ordinate projects for the Centre as required
* Contribute to the charity as a campaigner
* Understand NGB pathways within the centre and effectively communicate these to supporters

KPD 3 - Service Quality
* Delivery of quality training and experiences in line with centre operations procedures and NGB guidelines
* Support the Lead Instructor to supervise and direct course provision to a variety of learners including young people, adults, families and those with special needs
* To ensure that required teaching resources such as equipment, lesson plans, schemes of work and associated documents are prepared and available for effective course delivery
* Support junior staff in the development and delivery of centre activities

KPD 4 - Human Resource Management & People development
* Where necessary, support the Lead Instructor with induction and training of junior staff
* To attend regular team meetings and training that is arranged by the Charity

KPD 5 - Health, Safety & Technical
* To undertake manual handling duties which include moving goods, materials and equipment
* With direction from the Lead Instructor assist in the completion of health and safety or technical procedures and paperwork including completing and adhering to SSoW, operating procedures, risk assessments and check sheets
* To operate machinery and vehicles in connection with the Centre's operations including the site tractor, towing centre trailers, lifts, collecting fuel and transporting groups to and from the centre subject to qualifications and experience
* To respond to and deal with emergency situations including first aid incidents and complete all required actions and paperwork as identified in the Incident Management Plan and Emergency Action Plan

1) The post holder is required to promote measures to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage in service delivery and to monitor their effectiveness; to manage, support and monitor compliance throughout the organisation on the implementation of the Charity's Equal Opportunities Policies.
2) The post holder is required to maintain a flexible approach to work which will include continuous work in an outdoor environment, work on evenings, weekends and overnight as part of a shift pattern.
3) As part of the role, the post holder must maintain a valid first aid qualification and appropriately respond to first aid incidents within the scope of the post holder's role. Further to that the post holder is required to maintain all professionally accredited qualifications, awards and trade memberships relevant to the post.
4) The post holder will need to be physically fit and capable of undertaking duties around site.
5) The post holder is required to contribute to the safe working environment of employees within the Contract by ensuring that Health and Safety is effectively planned, organised, controlled, monitored and reviewed within the scope of their responsibilities and to seek appropriate advice from the Health and Safety Adviser where appropriate.
