Outdoor Instructor Training Programme 2020
LOCATION: Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, Scotland
QUALIFICATIONS: Over 21 years of age and hold valid 16hr First Aid Training. Driver's license and previous outdoor experience preferred.
DESCRIPTION: Action Adventure Activities - Internship Trainee Scheme
Start Date - Monday 4th May 2020
End Date - Sunday 27th September 2020
For 2020 we are recruiting candidates for our Internship Trainee Scheme. Candidates will receive training in all of the activities we provide as well as gaining several NGB qualifications. A training supplement of £70 per week is paid to trainees after a 4 week probationary period.

The Qualifications and Courses included are:
British Canoeing - Paddle Explore Award
British Canoeing - Foundation Safety & Rescue Training
British Canoeing - Paddle Sports Instructor
Mountain Training Association - RCI Training or Assessment
Optional - Mountain Training Assocation - Summer Mountain Leader Training or Assessment
Trainees will be put forward for ALL of the courses above.
Candidates not ready for Summer ML Training or Assessment will still get to do the Mountain days we offer and just focus more on the other Training & Qualifications in the programme.
Memberships, Registration & Course fees are included.
Other training will include: Canyoning, Target Sports ( Archery, Axe Throwing, Crossbow Shooting, Air Rifle & Pistol Shooting), 4x4 Driving, Quad Biking, Gorge walking and River Tubing, Paddle Boarding, Kayaking & Canoeing, Risk Assessments & Activity Logistics / Equipment Maintenance & Record Keeping. Opportunities for Whitewater Rafting will also be available as we look to develop this as a new activity.
There will be some overnight expeditions including hillwalking & canoe/kayak trips.
Candidates must provide at least 2 references and complete our application pack & must be a minimum age of 21 at the start of the course. Some previous experience of a variety of outdoor activities is essential and most importantly an enthusiasm to learn and to work hard in the outdoor industry. Candidates should have a First Aid qualification that will be valid for the entire length of our Training Programme and a full clean driving license.
As candidates progress through training and NGB awards they will assist, & lead activity sessions. Candidates that show good instructing ability may have the opportunity to lead more of the activities we offer - a great asset to the CV of any aspiring instructor.
Your normal fortnight would consist of 3 days training per fortnight, 3 days off per fortnight and the remaining days of each week spent assisting with activities and helping us with developing our centre. This will include helping in the construction of new activities facilities, gardening & landscaping, general labouring, painting, miscellaneous DIY tasks etc.
Some uniform is provided and a kit list will be provided showing the minimum outdoor equipment that a trainee must have.
Trainees will be mentored by our Senior Instructor staff.
On completion of the course candidates will be ready to confidently move on to a career in the outdoors.
Accommodation is shared in large static caravans on a co-ed basis. All meals are provided.
