Outdoor Education Instructor (Senior Instructor Level 4 - Full Time)

WORKING PATTERN: 37.5 Hours per week, working 5 days out of 7 including one evening per week. Overnight duty additional payment of £35 per night.

CONTRACT: Initial contract 18 months long with permanency dependant on performance.

The post holders will be expected to:
• Be a current active practitioner in outdoor activities.
• Take the lead role in overseeing and delivering high quality outdoor educational programmes with an emphasis on safe practice, learning outcomes and a high standard of customer service.
• Take a lead role in inspiring and organising members of staff to ensure efficient centre operating and development.
• Deliver a full and wide range of both centre based and off site activities with at least one activity specialism to a senior level.
• To further their experience in their range of outdoor activities both in and out of work time to fulfil NGB award and CPD requirements.
• Be flexible in their availability to work including overnights, evenings and weekends.
• Be a key holder for the site that they are based at and take responsibility for the operating of that site when the manager is not available.
• Be reflective in their practice, looking for continuous development and improvement in both their own and the centres provision of an outdoor education experience.
• Lead a team to ensure the centre and staff comply with H&S requirements/regulations and local working practices.
• Lead in training seasonal and long term staff to ensure current best practice and to ensure consistence across the business.

The post holders will have the following experience/skills:
• A good range of experience working in a variety of residential outdoor education settings and delivering outdoor education programmes.
• Land-based qualifications of Summer ML and SPA. MIA preferred.
• Paddling qualifications of British Canoeing L2 minimum.
• LCMLA Level 1 with Peak District area authorisation or ability to train to this level. CIC preferred.
• Experience as a Course Director for NGB training courses, such as Mountain Training or British Canoeing
• Range of other NGB awards including Archery, Mountain Bike Leadership, Orienteering, Bush Craft and Caving
• Driving D1+E entitlement or ability to achieve this within 6 months.
• APIOL advantageous

Enhanced DBS and suitable references will be needed for this role.
