Outdoor Instructor Job Vacancy

A fully flexible 0.5 position is available with Dame Allan’s School in Fenham, Newcastle upon Tyne, for a suitably qualified outdoor instructor.

The job involves 95 days work per year (September to August inclusive), which are fully flexible, and will incorporate: weekends, overnight stays, evenings and school holidays. You would be paid on a monthly salary basis at the rate of £6,326 to £7,179 per annum.

The work involves working alongside teaching staff to deliver:
• World challenge international expedition training
• Coordination, Training and assessment for Duke of Edinburgh award pupils (Silver and Gold)
• Outdoor Leadership and Education games option for 6th form (incorporating open canoe instruction and bushcraft)
• Climbing club activities
• Staff training events
• A residential course for school officers
• Ordering, maintaining and issuing equipment from school stock
• First Aid instruction to staff and pupils
• Extensions to the existing outdoor provision (winter expeditions, forest school activities etc.)

To do all this, you should be resourceful, flexible, adaptable and organised.

You should have MLTB or BMC qualifications to Summer Mountain Leader level, BCU L3 canoeing, 2 day first aid training, D1 minibus licence and experience of working with young people in an outdoor setting.
