Senior Water Sports Instructor

Main Purpose:
Managing a team of Water Sports & Activity Instructors, you will coordinate and implement the delivery of all Water Sports & activity sessions to our visiting groups in a safe, enjoyable and professional manner. As a dual trained senior member of the team you will also be required within your role to undertake land based duties assisting the Centre Manager.

Responsibilities:
Manage a team of Activity and Water Sports instructors in order to effectively plan and deliver all sessions in accordance with relevant company ASAP, BAHA, LOtC, Adventuremark, BCU/BSA and AALA guidelines
Plan and deliver any additional training that may be required by the Water Sports / Activity team
Liaise with Head office and schools in providing group visit information prior to, during and after the groups stay
Creation of staff timetables in line with individuals qualifications and training
Monitor and appraise staff performance in order to provide regular constructive feedback
Responsibility to ensure that all direct reports receive weekly one to one meetings & Personal Development Reviews (PDR’s) as per Operations Team deadlines
Responsibility for the maintenance, storage and security of all Activity & Water Sports equipment
Assist in the delivery of any activity session water or land based in accordance with the Activity Standards & Procedures Manual (ASAPs), Generic Risk Assessments and Site Risk Assessments.
Assist the Centre Manager in all aspects of centre operations
Coordination and delivery of evening entertainment sessions on a rota basis
Undertake senior duties to include overnight duties, party leader meetings and teacher previews
Actively promote the Company’s Equal Opportunity Statement ensuring it is being followed in all aspects of JCA’s operations
Actively promote the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and to ensuring that high standards of Health and Safety are maintained throughout all JCA operations
Actively promote the JCA product on site and ensure that the “Rebooking On Site” target is achieved
Actively promote the sale of JCA Merchandise prior to groups travelling and on site
Any other tasks requested by the Centre Manager deemed relevant to this role
Compliance with the company’s child protection policy at all times

Reporting to:

Team of Activity (where applicable) & Water Sports Instructors, equipment, activities and quality assurance

Role requirements:
Must be over 21 years old and hold a valid driving license for at least one year
BCC Level 2 or UKCC Level 1 minimum
BCU membership
Relevant 8hr first aid qualification
Desirable Surf Lifesaving award
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Flexibility within role and to change of location as per business needs
Ability to manage a team of Water Sports Instructors
Organisational skills to enable achievement of weekly deadlines and targets
Experience of Water Sports activity sessions and delivery to high standards
An approachable person that is a positive forward thinking leader
Desirable previous supervisory experience
