Get the best of both worlds - city living and outdoor working?

Fairbridge is a UK wide charity that wins the trust and commitment of over 3,700 young people every year that others find difficult to engage. Through a combination of personal support and challenging activities, Fairbridge provide them with a route back into mainstream society.

Fairbridge is acknowledged as being one of the most effective and successful charities in its field.

Working for Fairbridge, you will use your skills and knowledge of issues affecting young people in the region aged 13 – 25 to inspire and motivate them to participate in a Personal Development Programme.

Due to expansion we currently have 3 vacancies, 2 at Scale 2 and 1 at Scale 3. As a Development Tutor in Fairbridge in London you will plan and deliver a range of sessions and courses (including cooking and nutrition, sport and fitness, IT, arts, drama) to young people, as well as run residential courses. We use outdoor adventurous activities, as part of our personal development programme, to engage London’s socially excluded young people and we want you to join our team. Activities include: hill walking, climbing and water sports and we want you to extend it further. As one of the more experienced members of the team, you will assist in supervising and developing junior staff, and take responsibility for the equipment and course programming.

With a passion for the outdoors and proven relevant work experience, you will ideally have at least one to two qualifications in the following areas and a desire to gain more:
Mountain / BASP First Aid Certificate
ML Summer
SPA
Level 2 Canoe Coach
Local Cave Leader
RSA Counselling
ML Winter / MIA
Level 3 Sea / Surf Coach
Level 3 Inland Kayak Coach
Level 3 Canoe Coach
Youth work or outdoor education qualifications

You will also have a full clean driving licence, ideally with D1 + E enabling you to drive minibuses with a trailer. Your ability to inspire and relate to our challenging client group, along with your awareness of issues affecting young people, is key.

In return, we offer a fun and supportive work environment as well as development opportunities including an entitlement to 5 professional development training days each year. Working only Monday- Friday, you will also receive 28 days' holiday (plus bank holidays) rising to 32 days with length of service and employer pension contributions, independent & confidential advisory & information service and other benefits. This is a great opportunity to develop your career in the outdoor development sector and gain the security of a permanent job in a well respected charity.
