Centre Manager/Head of Centre

An exciting opportunity has arisen to undertake the role of Head of Centre/Centre Manager of Powys County Councils' Outdoor Education Facilities.

Staylittle and Ty Gwyn outdoor Centres are situated in the heart of Mid-Wales, 7 miles North West of Llanidloes and on the coast, 2 miles south of Fairbourne respectively. The centres provide outdoor activities and education for a variety of client groups including adult development courses, youth groups and Powys schools (these form the bulk of the work in the facilities).

The centres offer land and water based activities that include canoeing, sailing, kayaking, raft building, hill walking, climbing, abseiling, orienteering, and mountain biking. At Staylittle, the majority of the provision tends to be based around Llyn Clywedog with water sports as a large chunk of the activity.

The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, self motivated and dynamic and have a proven track record of working in and holding supervisory/management positions in the outdoors industry, it is desirable that a good part of this experience has been in the management of water sports.

As the centre runs in-county and external development training programmes for adults, it is also expected that the successful applicant would have good experience in developing and running such courses, and may hold training qualifications to aid this.

The Centre manager will be based at Staylittle, managing the day to day running of that centre, as well as the overarching management of both centres. The Assistant Manager runs Ty Gwyn on a day to day basis.
