Description:
Canoe & Kayak Instructors
Share your passion for paddling with our guests in stunning locations! Opportunities in the UK, France and Spain for the 2010 season – apply now!
Canoeing is at the heart of PGL and we have long recognised this sport as a great way to introduce children to the outdoors.
Whether you are teaching introductory sessions on calm UK waters, or if you are accompanying river descents down the beautiful Ardèche - this is a fantastic opportunity to put your paddle skills to the test.
For over 50 years, PGL has provided residential activity holidays and educational courses for children. More than 250,000 young guests enjoy a PGL trip each year, and we're looking for energetic staff team members to make that happen.
You'll be leading introductory sessions, briefing guests on safety, organising games and making sure your group have a fun, safe time on the water.
At some of our smaller UK centres, you'll split your time between paddling sessions and leading land-based activities including climbing, ropes courses, quadbiking and archery. We offer a comprehensive pre-employment training course to give you the skills, knowledge and confidence you'll need for this.
As well as working with like-minded people, you will benefit from the training on offer. You’ll have access to training and qualification opportunities, including National Governing Body Awards and Apprenticeship programmes in Active Leisure and Learning to help you get qualified 'on the job'.
We're looking for keen paddlers who ideally already hold a minimum of their British Canoe Union (BCU) Trainee Level 2 Coach award, or UKCC Level 1 Coach award.
If you do not hold these awards, but are an experienced paddler, or hold your BCU 3* or UKCC 2* competency award, you may be interested in our Activity Instructor positions where you can build up your personal competency hours during your free time and work towards gaining your BCU/UKCC awards.
Our centre locations mean plenty of opportunity to paddle during your free time, either on flat or moving water in the UK to adrenalin-busting white water in the Ardèche.
Return transport from a UK departure point to our overseas centres is provided for staff working in France or Spain.
Applications currently being accepted for our 2010 staff team - apply now via the PGL website www.pgl.co.uk/bluedome

PGL is committed to the principle of equal opportunities.
You need to possess the legal right to live and work in the UK to be considered for this position.
