A vacancy exists for a temporary seasonal full-time Instructor at the Centre. The post-holder will work a 37 hour week which will include some evening and weekend work. The post will commence in June 2008 and terminate in September 2008 although there is a possibility of the post becoming permanent in October 2008.

The Centre is a thriving and successful establishment and is due for a further period of development with an abseil tower to be built this year as part of the expansion of its facilities and opportunities for young people and adults.

The work involves instructing in a variety of outdoor activities including: Canoeing, Kayaking, Climbing (indoor & outdoor), Mountain Biking, Orienteering, Navigation, Raft-building, Team-building activities, Kite-Building and Environmental studies, plus other duties associated with the running of such sessions. A key part of the programme is the development of young people’s social and personal skills via activity sessions and courses.

The essential qualifications for this post are the British Canoe Union Level 2 Coach Award (minimum) and a relevant Climbing award. Holding other awards in Mountain Biking, Power-boating or Orienteering would be an advantage.
