We're looking for graduates of geography, geology, environmental or marine sciences and similar subjects to join us for the 2008 season as Field Studies Instructors at our market-leading residential activity and educational centres in the UK.
As a PGL Field Studies Instructor, you will have the opportunity to introduce our young guests to new concepts of learning, using the outside world as your classroom. PGL offers residential field studies courses to visiting British school groups. Using knowledge from your degree, you will work with a group of up to 12 children or teenagers, using the centre and the surrounding locations (including the beach, cliffs and Exmoor) to deliver field studies sessions.
This role is ideal for anyone considering a future in teaching or even current uni students looking for a suitable work placement for your year in industry. The scope for personal development is almost limitless as you'll learn and lead sessions for all ages of school group in subjects ranging from geology and urban geography to alternative technologies whilst promoting citizenship and teamwork.
You'll also be trained to deliver PGL's core land-based adventure activities including abseiling, climbing and quad biking, so you can lead these sessions when not on field studies duty. You'll also assist with evening entertainments for your group. Full training is given.
You'll need to have basic IT skills, a high level of initiative and commitment, boundless enthusiasm and a true desire to work with children of all ages.
Locations include the Isle of Arran, Isle of Wight, South Devon and Weymouth in Dorset.
Positions start at the end of March, in April and August, working through until the autumn. Flexible length contracts are available.
