Haven Banks Outdoor Education Centre, based in Devon has been running Instructor Training Courses for more than 14 years. Each year the Centre qualifies its course members with a variety of National Governing Body Coaching Qualifications.

The course is designed to meet every aspect of each award, from initial beginner training, to gaining skill based NGB awards through to NGB Training Courses, ending with the experience of working with groups and individuals of every age and ability and finally the assessments.

This is a FREE seven month full-time non-residential course which is open to all ability levels aged 18 years and above. There is no upper age limit on the course or any of the qualifications pursued.

Personal Action Plans are drafted so that each individual works and achieves at their own speed, ensuring an individual receives the personal attention they require.

Then look no further. Haven Banks based in Exeter utilises the local surroundings of the Exe Rivers & Estuary, Dartmoor National Park and its rivers as well as residential trips to North Wales, South Wales, The Mendip Hills and Cornwall.
Students are professionally trained & assessed to National Governing Body standards during the first phase of the course (February-May) Followed by an essential work placement phase for the second phase (May-September). Upon completion students have the necessary qualifications to access a career in the outdoor industry either nationally or internationally.

Awards can Include -
RYA Dinghy Levels 1-Seamanship skills, Dinghy Assistant Instructor, Instructor, Powerboat level 2 (Coastal or Inland) Safety Boat. Windsurfing Levels 1 & 2

BCU Kayak 1- 4 Star, Canoe Safety Test, Level 1 Coach, Level 2 Coach, Level 3 Coach Training and Assessment as appropriate, Canoe 1-3 Star. Level 1 Coach

MLTB Rock Climbing - D.C.C. Climbing Wall Supervisor Training/Assessment, Single Pitch Award, Training/Assessment as appropriate.

First Aid Mountain Medicine. First Aid First Responder (8 hour) or 2 Day Emergency First Aid Course

B.C.A Site Specific Cave Leader, Local Cave Leader Award (LCLA) Level 1 Award, Training/Assessment as appropriate.

Other locally recognised qualifications and leadership of Archery, Orienteering, Team Building and Raft Building.
