Description:
The Call of the Wild WGL course will be run from Maes Y Fron Bunk House, situated inside the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons National park providing easy access onto the Black Mountain and offering unsurpassed views overlooking the village of Abercraf and down the Swansea Valley as far as the Gower Peninsular.
The WGL is the basic award for leaders of hill walking groups in defined terrain and conditions. The scheme has been designed to complement the long established Mountain Leader Award (ML(s), which trains leaders with the skills to lead walking groups in all mountain areas of the UK and Ireland.

Registration: To register candidates should have at least one year’s experience of hill walking and have an interest in leading hillwalking groups. Candidates must be at least eighteen years of age and completed at least 20 hill walks and be an individual member of a mountaineering Council.
Before attending a training course candidates must register on the Walking Group Leader scheme with one of the home nation mountain training Boards and have logged at least 20 hill walks.
Course costs: £195 to include accommodation for 2 nights, all instruction and use of the facilities at Maes Y Fron. Note: It does not include: Food
