Description:
The general aim is to develop personal
kayaking and canoeing skills, so BCU 4 and 5 star assessments
can be taken. In addition opportunities will be provided for candidates
to attend BCU Coach 2 and Coach 3 training and assessment courses.
Through this weekend, we aim to offer relatively
experienced paddlers the chance to partake in a developmental
weekend, resulting in a personally tailored action plan, and all
for £45. Successful candidates from the developmental weekend
will be offered further opportunities and training such as assisting
qualified BCU Coaches and assessors at the Anglesey Sea Kayaking
Symposium in May and to attend other ASSC courses.
We also recruit kayak expedition guides for
10 week expeditions in Patagonian Chile. Entry requirements for
expedition are generally Level 2 to 4 Kayak coach minimum or equivalent
qualifications. However, Raleigh International understands that
many experienced paddlers do not have specific qualifications
and the development weekend offers the opportunity for such participants
to be selected based on their competence and experience.
Raleigh International uses Kayak expedition
guides to develop young people through participation in short,
challenging Patagonian expeditions. These expeditions will take
place throughout 2005 and 2006.
