About UKSA:

UKSA is a youth charity offering transformational opportunities for young people through sailing and watersports. We focus on three areas: personal development, schools and group visits, and professional maritime training. We are based in Cowes, Isle of Wight - the heart of the yachting world.
We don't just offer certification and training, as a youth charity we can offer that bit extra. We really look after our young people. Our careers students benefit from 1:1 mentoring, access to our careers network, realistic careers advice and help with CVs. We help over 9,000 people a year to achieve their personal best. We have a fantastic fleet, a waterfront campus, inspirational instructors and great facilities.

Ocean Training:
Upgrade your qualifications with our newly repackaged seven-week Ocean Training course. With multiple and frequent start dates you can choose to go straight into this course from UKSA’s Professional Yachtmaster, or at any time during your career progression.

Ocean Training will give you qualifications, practical sailing experience, engineer and maintenance skills required to work on all types of yachts, helping you gain a long term career in the maritime industry with unlimited tickets – allowing you to skipper vessels up to 24 metres anywhere in the world.
This course will increase your employability, aid your career progression and give you the qualifications to build an impressive marine CV for work. Your unlimited tickets will open doors.

Pre-requisite experience:
UKSA Professional Yachtmaster or RYA Yachtmaster Offshore


RYA / MCA Yachtmaster Ocean (Sail)
RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Shorebased
MCA Approved Engine Certificate
Course Syllabus:
Navigational training
Ocean passage planning and practical qualifying passages
Maintenance training to include winch maintenance, ropework, sail maintenance, rigging, stability, electronics, water systems, construction
