Description:
Climbing and Abseiling
Admire the beautiful views of Skye and the surrounding area while
you climb up a sea cliff, or abseil down a rocky outcrop.
Introductory climbing sessions take place at various locations
on Raasay, with the best climbing to be found at the sea cliffs
below Brochel Castle.
The castle was built in the 15th century and with stunning views
across to the Torridon Hills and the mainland of Scotland, it
provides not only a beautiful backdrop to climbing sessions but
also a link with the historical past of Raasay.
Descent by abseil to the base of the cliff often becomes one of
the highlights of a 'Brochel Castle' session.
Climbing sessions take a progressive format. Scrambling and rock
techniques learned on outcrops graduate to more challenging and
difficult climbing.
Experienced climbers can progress from here to explore the numerous
rock faces and crags at Torran in the north end of the island.
