MLTE Courses - SPA and ML - with Ascent Training

Ascent Training are providers of both the Single Pitch Award (SPA) training and assessment courses and Paul Platt is a course director for the Mountain Leader scheme. Dates are advertised on our website for SPA courses and ML but if these are not convenient for you then please contact us and we will be able to put a course together.

SPA Courses
SPA training and assessment courses last a minimum of two days or twenty hours.
Between training and assessment candidates are expected to gain extensive supervisory and personal climbing experience. Every opportunity should be taken to practice the skills learned during training.
Before you register make sure you can answer yes to the following questions.
Are you at least 18 years old?
Do you have 12 months rock climbing experience?
Are you an active climber with experience of lead climbing? Have you led at least 15 routes outdoors on leader placed protection.

ML courses
Though we are not a provider of ML courses both Paul and some of the staff that work for Ascent Training are course directors and have experience of working on ML courses for many years. Paul has run courses for the national mountain centre PyB.
We are therefore able to put together ML refresher courses and we can run re-assessment days run under another provider.
