Foundation Instructor Course
If you are thinking about a career in the outdoors and would like to experience what being an outdoor instructor is like then this course is for you. This dynamic 1 month course includes week long phases of climbing, mountain
leadership, kayaking and canoeing. Gaining the basic skills and experience in these activities will give you a clear understanding of the outdoor industry and what it has to offer you. Alternatively you may simply want to have a fantastic outdoor experience over a month and gain some exciting new skills.

Single Pitch Climbing
This course covers the skills of rock climbing and is aimed at those with little
or no experience. Indoor walls, bouldering, rope work, setting up climbs,
absieling, safety, crag and route choice, movement on rock, personal equipment
and an introduction to lead climbing will all be explored in this exciting 4
week programme using the picturesque crags in the South West. With previous
experience this course would make a good stepping stone towards the Single
Pitch Award.

Mountain Leadership
Over 4 weeks become self reliant in the mountain environment. This programme
will take you to Dartmoor, the Breacon Beacons or Snowdonia National Park. Our
instructors will coach you in all aspects of map and compass work, weather
conditions, equipment choice and route planning. The course culminates in a
fantastic 3 day expedition where you will be self sufficient and have the
confidence to walk alone both in the day and at night. Completion of this
course gives you the prerequisites to attend the Mountain Leader Award training
course.
