BCU Level 2 Canoe Coach Training – 2 days £79 per person (Ullswater)
This course provides you with the skills to introduce others to paddling on sheltered waters and lead simple journeys on flat water.
Sheltered water is a canal, small lake or quiet river. This award does not cover canoeing on large lakes, weirs or rapids. The level 2 coach award covers coaching to the BCU 2 star standard.
The level 2 coach training course includes; Planning a session, introducing the complete beginner, improving boat control through basic strokes, how to coach, rescues, towing and other emergencies, journeying on flat or slow moving water, other forms of canoeing and assessment skills.
Candidates must hold the BCU 3 star award, BCU safety test and a current first aid certificate. They must also be registered with the BCU and hold necessary paperwork.

BCU Level 2 Canoe Coach Assessment – 1 day £39 (Derwentwater)
This is a one day assessment qualifying participants to supervise groups on sheltered inland water and to lead short simple journeys.
Candidates must have completed the level 2 coach training course within the previous 3 years. They need to have completed at least 20 hours of relevant instructional experience since the training course, be registered with the BCU and hold the necessary paperwork.
On the assessment participants need to demonstrate that they can coach a small group of typically 4 candidates the basic skills defined in the 1 and 2 Star tests. They need to demonstrate an awareness of safety factors and adequate group control. Level 2 assessed coaches may examine for the 1 and 2 star tests in the discipline for which they hold the award. 2008 dates to be confirmed shortly
