BCU 2 Star Canoe Assessment and Canoe Safety Test – 1 day £29 per person
The two star award covers basic strokes and techniques on flat water. The emphasis is on creating the desired movement of the boat through developing an understanding of cause and effect rather than concentrating on rigidly defined strokes.
The canoe safety test ensures that a paddler has the necessary safety awareness and which will enable them to ensure the safety of themselves and others. It also covers rescue skills which can be used to help themselves and/or others in difficulty.
Additional coaching will be provided prior to assessment. Participants can be assessed in either or both of these awards during the day.
2008 dates to be confirmed shortly
Intermediate Canoeing – 2 days £65 per person
Our intermediate canoeing course helps participants progress from canoeing on sheltered waters to be able to cope in most British open water conditions in moderate conditions. The course is a preparation for the BCU 3 Star award (prior to UKCC.
Changes that are taking place during 2007 to the BCU coaching scheme will mean that although the course will be at a similar level, the focus of training for courses later in the year will be updated to be appropriate for the new BCU-UKCC coaching scheme.
