Outdoor Education Instructor Training Course (One Year)
Available at Ardroy Outdoor Education Centre
Lochgoilhead, Argyll.
Gain experience of working with groups and access to free training and assessment in NGB Awards, and SVQ’s. 10 vacancies annually.
Accommodation, food, and gear allowance available.

Technical Skills Training
Mountaineering - BELA and Summer Mountain Leader(SML)
Rock Climbing - Single Pitch Award (SPA)
Kayak/Canoe - BCU UKCC Level 1 Coach Course
Archery - Archery Leader Award(GNAS)
Orienteering - Level 1 Coach
Soft Skills Training
SQA qualifications: -
Level 2 – Activity Leadership
Level 3 – Outdoor Education
The syllabus includes:-
Health and Safety including: 1staid qualification, child protection, equipment and facility maintenance and food hygiene.
Preparing Activity Sessions
Group Management Skills
Facilitation and Reviewing Techniques
PCV Mini Bus Training
Environmental Education
Training given includes: -
Environmental concepts including: food chains, energy flow and weather cycles.
Appreciation and understanding of specific habitats including Atlantic Oak Woodland.
Woodland Crafts, Environmental Awareness Walks and River studies.
John Muir Awards, Natural Connections Awards.
Adventure Activity Skills Training
The Splosh – Ardroy’s wet gorge walk
The Squeeze – Ardroy’s dry gorge walk
The Quest and Low Ropes Course – Team building activities
Jacob’s Ladder – High Ropes, Team building activity
How much does the course cost?
Funding available from Government training schemes and Project Scotland.
Accommodation?
Self-catering accommodation is available through arrangement with Ardroy.
