In January 2007 Mountain Water Experience (MWE) are launching their Instructor Training Course, (ITC), to provide a solid grounding in an array of outdoor adventurous activities.

This is not a “Zero to Hero course” but if you are looking for a new career or a concrete start in the outdoor activity industry, then this course has been developed to provide you with a solid basis in skills, theory and practical application.

The aim is to set achievable goals within the time scale provided and for candidates to then go out and strengthen their skills to achieve the relevant awards that will eventually lead to the appropriate experience and qualifications that are desired by employers. The course will also cater for students who wish to consolidate their experience and qualifications before finding employment.

The top quality MWE team of coaches and instructors will ensure that all students gain valuable experience, confidence and the necessary skills to enter into jobs throughout the industry. Furthermore throughout the course the MWE staff will be on hand to offer careers advice to ensure participants gain a full understanding of the outdoor industry and their options towards employment.

The course runs for 6 weeks from the 15th Jan - 23rd Feb and then 17th September to 26th October 2007 inclusive.

Over the six week period the course will cover, in a modular format, a number of activities such as kayaking (both flat & white water), rock climbing & abseiling, moorland walking, mountain & outdoor first aid plus extras such as coasteering, caving and high wire elements to name a few.

All students will be based at the MWE centre in South Devon, with the course run on a five day basis: at weekends students are free to study, practice skills, or just chill out.

The full course cost will be £1995.00 inclusive of full instruction; use of all specialist equipment; transport whilst on activities; full board accommodation for five days and self catering facilities over weekends and VAT. The fee also includes a full back-up service to students once they have left MWE to provide them with advice and support.

The MWE ITC has been developed to provide all students with the skills and confidence to go out into the outdoor industry and find not just a job but a career. If you are looking for a vocation that enables you to work in the outdoors with a variety of people in some fantastic locations then this course will give you the starting blocks to set off from.

As an opportunity to gain funding The MWE ITC is registered with the Learning and Skills Council, Learning Provider No:12410.
This will enable candidates to gain a Career Development Loan, if applicable. Further information is available at www.lifelonglearning.co.uk/cdl
