About Ardeche Guides
Ardeche Guides Ltd are a small but professional company specialising in outdoor activity packages for the single client to corporate groups. All our bookings are designed around the clients needs and requirements to maximise the experience.
We are based in a small hamlet near the town of Burzet, which is in the Ardeche region of the 'Massif Central' in France; an outdoor adventure playground with everything on our doorstep.

Adventure Holidays in the Ardeche France
Ardeche Guides Ltd offers canyoning, caving, climbing, abseiling, canoeing, kayaking, Via Ferrata and hill walking. We can also provide accommodation, planning, itineraries, guides and meals.
Our policy is to provide you with a personalised activity experience, based around your own needs, thus guaranteeing your time with us will be individual to you and arranged to your specific requirements.
There is no need to descend a river by boat as we do canyoning, which is also called canyoneering.
The idea is to descend the canyon in a wetsuit, helmet and harness, abseiling down waterfalls, jumping into deep pools or slowly floating down the canyon in the water.
Due to our prime location and choice of canyons within the local area, we can offer various levels of difficulty and can cover a wide scope of ability levels from small children to full on adrenaline junkies and all in a safe and controlled environment.
Climbing and Abseling
The Ardche region is one of the most diverse geological areas in France with a convergence of many different rock types over a relatively small area.
The Northern Ardche Mountains are mainly volcanic in nature and the climbing is diverse with awe inspiring scenery. The climbing has much more friction than the limestone of the south and the possibilities for traditional climbing with good protection are within easy reach of our base near Burzet.
The Southern Ardche and Ardche Gorges are predominantly limestone with bolted protection. If you are looking for areas ranging in technique and style, from steep short routes to longer more forgiving stances the Southern Ardche has it all on offer.
Via Ferrata
Originaly built by the military during the first word war, Via Ferrata is now a recognised sport. It consists of skillfully installed fixed cables, ladders, bridges and tyroleans, which assist your ascent or traverse.
We have an amazing site constructed locally, which even has a 90 metre tyrolean (zip wire), which takes you from one side of the Ardeche River to the other. Under the supervision of our experienced Guides, you will be able to appreciate the stunning mountain scenery and experience the thrill of aid climbing in safe and controlled surroundings.
Caving
The caves in the Ardeche were formed millions of years ago, from underground rivers and streams eroding the limestone rock. We have the full benefit of one of the best caving areas in the world, with underground systems, some as long as ten kilometers.
Under guided supervision, we can take you into an underground world of discovery, where you can view stalagmites and stalegtites in all their glory and experience the science and sport of caving.

Canoeing and Kayaking
Open canoeing
Originating in Canada the open canoe is ideal for a more mellow approach to river running and is in fact becoming the ideal craft to tour the many waterways of the world. Like kayaking our guides will give you all the skills necessary to successfully negotiate the rivers of the Massif Central.
Kayaking
The closed cockpit kayak is one of the most popular outdoor activities in recent years. Our guides are available for river running trips on white water and will coach and refine the techniques needed to negotiate the river.
Mountain Walking
From our base in Sausses Hauts nestled in the Montagne Ardechois we are ideally located for many of the marked footpaths (GR routes) in the area. If you are planning to walk alone or as a group, to experience this national park with its unique Flora and Fauna is something special and is highly recommended.
Many of the walks within the Ardeche use the national sentier system of France, where paths cross the countryside and each route is discreetly signposted with a colour coded system. There are numerous breathtaking walks available within the Ardeche Region with routes rangeing from moderate to difficult and taking in the amazing and unspoiled views.
