Diabetes at Altitude - Broad Peak 2004

On Sunday 13/6/2004, Nikki Wallis a thirty three year old search and rescue dog handler with the Llanberis Mountain Rescue team leaves the UK to join with a group of climbers who are determined to show that an adventurous lifestyle is possible even when suffering from Diabetes.

The team will climb Broad Peak, 8047 mtrs, first climbed in 1957 and representing a serious mountaineering adventure.

Nikki is not the only team member to suffer from the disorder, Karakorum Broad Peak 2004 team members Marco Peruffo and Daniele Mirolo also have insulin dependant diabetes. For links on Diabetes please visit the pages below.

We hope to receive updates from the team either directly or via their Italian point of contact.
