Mosquito's and
other Pests
Biting insects can
be a real problem in some tropical areas,
the least problem is an irritating bite
the worst can be the transmission of
a serious disease. Malaria is once again
becoming a problem, control of insect
populations is becoming more difficult,
if not impossible. During a recent trip
to Italy mosquito's were a problem for
everyone we met, the locals told me
that the marshes were sprayed but this
no longer had an effect on the Mosquito's.
Fortunatly the the Italian mosi's did
not carry Malaria, but the bites were
vicious.
If you are visiting
a part of the World where Malaria is
a problem adequate precautions
must be taken to avoid mosquito bites.
A high quality mosquito net reduces
the risk of infection and provides valuable
protection from the irritation of mosquito
bites.
Whilst a mosquito
net is recognised as the very best way
to protect yourself from bites, to travel
safely and ensure peace of mind you
should take all the preventive measures
you can. Use an effective insect repellant,
if you're outside in the evenings try
to wear long sleeves and long trousers
to minimise the amount of exposed skin.
Pyrethin coils and where you have electricity,
plug-in repellants will also help to
ensure a bug free environment.
