Lancashire Routes Cycling Project for
the North-West
A small charity based in Swinton near Manchester
they get up to all sorts of things promoting cycling to the
public. The latest of their ventures is to produce a series
of leaflets "Lancashire by Saddle" in partnership
with Lancashire County Council.
So far they've produced two free leaflets
which provide basic information about our rights and responsibilities
when riding on bridleways. The third is a map which highlights
all the bridleways in the West Pennine Moors/Lancashires Hill
country, from Greater Manchester in the south to Blackburn/Burnley
in the North showing the excellent bridleway link from Burnley
to Rossendale and on to Rochdale. The new permissive route from
Bolton to Blackburn over Darwen Moor. Also featuring a detailed
map of the popular Lever Park/Rivington Pike area. Use the map
to put together your own routes from 5 miles to 50.
Future publications from Lancashire by Saddle
include maps of The Ribble Valley and The Trough of Bowland
, as well as more detailed cycle routes. New information will
be posted here as it becomes available.
These routes should be pretty good as they've
been researched by a seasoned route writer. If you ride 'em
let us know where they come on the scale from frown to grin.
