Expedition Report From Nepal - Entry for 1 April
The picture shows a scene from today's journey at about the half way point.
Most of us slept well in the cool air at 7,000 feet at Suketar. Dogs, cockerels and
snoring disturbed some, particularly if your tent companion snored. Bed tea Arrived
at 0630, breakfast at 0720 and we left for the trail by 0800.

Our route took us along a narrow mountain path through tall forests. Nepali families
passed us and cattle pulled ploughs in the fields. The Nepali large red rhoderdenron
was in full flower which contrasted against the green trees. A stop after 2 hours
gave a welcome break for some photos of handsome Nepali children. We arrived at Lali
Kharka at about 1100hrs. Our cook boy Bi Bi Rai brought out tea with a beaming smile.
Lunch of chapattis, spinach and pilchards was eaten on a little terrace, basked in
sunshine, with the local children looking on.
Lali Kharka is perched on the side of a steep mountain giving wonderful views of
surrounding hills through the heat haze. Our blue tents are going up on the little
terraces above the village for our overnight stop. Tomorrow's trek will take us towards
Pakora.
For Kids: Today April Fool's day was Larry Foden's day because he started his April
Fool around midnight by keeping us all awake with his sonorous snoring that went
on and on. He says he has a sister who works as a schooled teacher in Nottingham
teaching CDT. He says he cannot spell the name of her college so we cant put it in
sorry! Larry has been climbing North of Kangchenjunga before and he says he cannot
wait to get on to the hill and start the climb.
Everybody is in great spirits.
