Junior Team Diary
11 Apr:
We accompanied the main team to the edge of the Yalung Galcier and then bid our farewells. We made our way back to Ramche and waited there for our medical kit to come down from Base Camp. It had been sent there inadvertantly.
12 Apr:
We walked back down the valley to Tseram to a little camp site high up on the side of the valley. We felt as though we were camped in an Eagles nest looking down on the two huts and campsite of Tseram.
13 Apr:
We left early, Andy Edington our leader waited behind to give a tip to those porters who were being paid off. Our route took us up a very very steep path up the side of the valley to cross over three passes. We crossed snowfields and icey rock bands. Our porters provided us with a soup lunch on a precipitous path high up in the mountains. The afternoon was spent in clag as we crossed the Mergan La pass and down to our campsite. We shared with some Swedes, Norwegians and Americans who were trekking in the opposite direction.
14 Apr:
A 2 hour descent brought us down to the attractive village of Ghunsa. This is the valley that leads up to our base camp and Ramtang. We have decided to spend a rest day here tomorrow to sort ourselves out before going up to Pangpema, our base camp. We should arrive there on Tuesday.
Our next diary will be sent fom Pangpema. Everybody is in excellent spirits and good health.
