Job Description
To lead a team of up to 15 young people aged between 15 and 17 years old through a four week summer programme including residential trips away from home, local skills workshops and social action projects.

Responsibilities
• Lead and engage in activities with a group of NCS participants through an Outward Bound style residential week, life and community skills university residential week, social action projects and celebration event.
• Attend the Meet and Greet event prior to the programme to introduce yourself to your team and encourage full participation of the programme.
• Facilitate and deliver curriculum sessions that promote independence, social skills, employability and problem solving skills to provide young people with a quality NCS experience.
• Lead visits to local charities and community partners and help to facilitate your team to plan, design and deliver a meaningful social action project.
• Assist the NCS Wave Leader to ensure all appropriate policies are in place to protect the NCS participants and staff.
• Work with NCS staff to overcome problems that may occur in any stage of the programme.
• Oversee the health, wellbeing and behaviour management of a group of young people.
• Follow safeguarding policies and Entrust procedures to ensure the safety of young people.
• Build positive relations with young people to provide support on a one to one and group basis in order to achieve NCS goals.

Person Specification
• Experience of working with young people from a variety of cultural, economic and social backgrounds and understand the issues affecting young people.
• Knowledge of the NCS programme and experience planning, delivering, and evaluating activities in a creative and flexible way.
• Excellent team work skills with the ability to inspire and motivate young people to help them achieve their potential.
• Experience of working in demanding fast-paced environments, working flexibly and adaptively with the ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
• An awareness and understanding of equality and diversity
• Punctual, reliable and well organised, to ensure professional service with a responsible attitude to record keeping and paperwork.
• A relevant qualification in Youth work, teaching, Health and Social care or equivalent

Phase Two: 8/07/19- 12/07/19 - Residential Life skills Stafford based
Phase Three A: 15/07/19- 18/07/19 - Social Action Project planning around Stone/ Stafford
Phase Three B: 22/07/19 – 25/07/19 - Social Action Project delivery around Stone/ Stafford
Graduation: 06.09.19 or 07.09.19
