MSSC (Marine Society & Sea Cadets) is the nation’s largest maritime charity and the governing charity of the Sea Cadets, a civilian voluntary youth organisation comprising some 400 or so Sea Cadet Units, throughout the UK. The Sea Cadets offer a wide range of youth opportunities with the same enduring objective – to foster good citizenship in the community.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic instructor to deliver training at our facility in Weymouth. In this role you will responsible for the delivery of training, as directed by and in support of the Chief Instructor.
The hours of work each week will be variable, but will average approximately 44 hours per week over the duration of the contract.
The centre itself has been re-developed and the new facility boasts the most up-to-date technologies and systems making it eco-friendly and comfortable. The training centre is open for 50 weeks of the year and hosts many different events. The main portion of this is for Cadet training (10 to 18 year olds), although outside bodies do book the facility for training and other purposes.
You will be experienced at delivering fun and safe learning for young people in the outdoors, holding at least an RYA Dinghy Instructor (Coastal), RYA Safety Boat (Coastal), RYA Powerboat Instructor (Coastal) qualifications as a minimum. Knowledge of maintenance would be useful. The successful candidate will be passionate about instructing and want to put their skills into practice in our setting and as part of our team.
The post can be demanding and working hours are as determined by the training programme, this will include regular weekend working.
