Activity/Bushcraft Instructors

Acorn Adventure are recruiting experienced Activity/Bushcraft Instructors

Tipi Woodland Adventure is aimed at primary school children. The camp can accommodate approximately 35 – 56 people and is set in a woodland clearing with giant Tipi tents and a central open-sided dining tent with fire pit.  The camp is part of a larger Scout campsite with good basic fixed shower & toilet facilities.

What we’re looking for…
A small team of experienced Activity Instructors capable of delivering safe, effective & fun sessions in these types of activities.
Freelance Instructors to operate at the Centre on a regular basis.
Qualifications to include Rifles (NSRA) & Archery GB qualifications.

Our teams of Activity Instructors deliver taster activity sessions and an evening entertainment programme to our guests. We are looking for dynamic people who work well in a small team and have experience of working in outdoor adventure with young people, particularly primary aged children. All activities are on-site and will include Climbing (Wall), Target Sports, Orienteering, Initiative Exercises, Blind Trail Course, Bushcraft, Woodland Crafts & Campfire Nights.

Staff will be expected to be part of the Camp experience for the entirety of the group’s stay encouraging the children to also be involved in aspects of ‘Acorn village’ camp life, such as tidying & washing up.  Other responsibilities of the staff team will be site preparation, cleaning facilities, cooking the camp meals as well as running activity and evening sessions.

This operation will be a short season (early May – end July) but re-allocation of our core staff team to our other Centres until the end of our season (late Aug/Sep) will be an option.
Most guest bookings will be a full week (Mon – Fri) or half week and staff will be expected to stay on-site. We do not accommodate guests over weekends and so staff will not be required to remain living on site – however, we will require core staff to work the occasional weekend (stay on-site) on a rota basis to cover site security & preparation.

Why work for Acorn?
All our staff participate in a comprehensive induction & training programme and will have the opportunity to complete pre and post-season training to gain NGB qualifications in different activities.  We are also keen on promoting personal development and progression.

All applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a UK/EU passport, UK residential address, a permanent UK National Insurance number and a UK bank account. We will be unable to take your application further before they have been obtained. We are unable to apply for a work visa/permit on behalf of an applicant.
A current Enhanced DBS Check or overseas equivalent is required for successful applicants.
