Role Purpose: (how your role contributes to the mission)
The Lead Instructor will plan and deliver a broad range of quality outdoor activity sessions; having specialist responsibilities for the supervision of junior and casual staff, the welfare of participants and ensuring activity sessions are delivered in line with NGB and Charity Activity Standards.

The Lead Instructor is a versatile role which responds to the seasonal nature of the activities delivered by the Charity and the booking commitments of each Centre. When the Lead Instructor is not leading an activity and following guidance from the Chief Instructor or Operations Manager, they will support the wider delivery of the Charity's activities in a variety of support functions or localised leadership responsibilities.

* Assume responsibility for the upkeep and continued maintenance of centre equipment
* Execute scheduled safety checks (PPM)
* Use the centre asset management system to keep up to date maintenance logs in line with NGB and charity requirements.

Contract specific outputs:
KPD 1 - Finance
* To undertake 'Front of House' duties, as required which will include sales, processing bookings, providing accurate bookings advice.
* Cash handling and reconciliation.
* Follow the charities financial procedures for purchasing

KPD 2 - Sales, marketing & Product development
* Operate the Centre's computerised admission control/booking system.
* In liaison with the Commercial Manager / Operations Manager implement local promotional activities within the Centre.
* In line with the business plans, marketing and improvement plan contribute to and co-ordinate projects for the Centre.
* Contribute to the charity as a campaigner.

KPD 3 - Service Quality
* To design course programmes to meet the requirements of our supporters.
* Support junior staff in the development and delivery of these centre activities.
* Support the Chief Instructor in monitoring and mentoring junior staff in accordance with policies of the Charity and national governing bodies.
* To deliver quality training/experiences and support junior staff to do likewise.
* To support the development of teaching resources, lesson plans, schemes of work and associated documents required for effective course delivery.

KPD 4 - Human Resource Management & People development
* Support the Chief Instructor in the inducting, monitoring and training of junior staff.
* Support the Chief Instructor in ensuring that buildings, services, resources, equipment, vehicles and grounds are inspected to ensure that they are in a safe and secure condition which includes delivering against the set maintenance programme reporting system.
* Respond to staffing needs when acting as Duty Manager.

KPD 5 ' Health, Safety & Technical
* With direction from the Chief Instructor assist in the completion of health and safety or technical procedures and paperwork including completing and adhering to SSoW, operating procedures, risk assessments and check sheets.
* Support the Chief instructor in implementing a training plan for the delivery teams at the Centre ensuring that the appropriate records of training are kept up to date and training needs are met.
* With direction from the Chief Instructor comply with the licensing requirements of the relevant governing bodies and authorities that are applicable to the Centre.
* To respond to and deal with emergency situations including first aid incidents and complete all required actions and paperwork as identified in the Incident Management Plan and Emergency Action Plan.

* Lead the staff delivery team responsible for a variety of user groups and the wider community.
* To operate machinery and vehicles in connection with the Centre's operations including the site tractor, towing centre trailers, lifts, collecting fuel and transporting groups to and from the centre subject to qualifications and experience.
* Maintain a high profile 'shop floor' presence and a high level of interaction with the staff and supporters.
* To balance teaching duties with health and safety / leadership responsibilities to ensure one area does not suffer as a result of time committed to the other.
* On a rota basis undertake the responsibilities of the Duty Manager as required.
* To deputise for the Chief instructor and undertake additional duties commensurate with the level of the post that may be allocated by the Manager after consultation with the post holder.
* To attend regular team meetings and training that is arranged by the Charity.

1) The post holder is required to promote measures to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage in service delivery and to monitor their effectiveness; to manage, support and monitor compliance throughout the organisation on the implementation of the Charity's Equal Opportunities Policies.
2) The post holder is required to maintain a flexible approach to work which will include continuous work in an outdoor environment, work on evenings, weekends and overnight as part of a shift pattern.
3) The post holder will also participate in an 'on call' rota and respond appropriately to emergency requests, liaise with relevant services, authorities and customers required to maintain active and secure operations of the premises and grounds.
4) As part of the role, the post holder must maintain a valid first aid qualification and appropriately respond to first aid incidents with the scope of the post holder's role. Further to that the post holder is required to maintain all professionally accredited qualifications, awards and trade memberships relevant to the post.
5) The post holder is required to be a nominated key holder which includes responsibility for checking the building and grounds, activating and deactivating the security systems and other duties which may be required as part of the security of the premises and grounds.
6) The post holder must hold and maintain the 'essential' qualifications and memberships to relevant NGB's as detailed in the person specification.
7) The role will entail working outdoors for extended periods of time in all environments. The post holder will need to be physically fit and capable of undertaking duties around site.
