Outdoor Activity Vacancies

South West Lakes is the largest combined provider of outdoor activities in the South West, with a wide range of exciting activities including watersports (everything from sailing and windsurfing to raft building and roller zorbs), high ropes, climbing, camping and much more! Each year around 80,000 person sessions are delivered to a wide range of clientele from schools / scouts to families and competitive events. We are looking for enthusiastic and outgoing instructors to join our growing team to help deliver these exciting and educational activities for the 2018 season. Our centres are located across Exmoor, Devon and Cornwall.

Working as part of the activity team provides great opportunities to gain experience and training within the outdoor industry, whilst working as part of a friendly and professional team. Whether you’re looking for a cool summer job, or to progress within the industry, our experienced team of chief instructors will work with you to ensure that you have the skills, knowledge and support to succeed. We offer pre-season training in a range of activities including powerboating, high ropes, and raft building as well as support in gaining wider NGB qualifications e.g RYA Dinghy Instructor or the Archery GB award.

We are currently looking for qualified activity instructors (water and land-based activities) at all levels to work the 2018 season, ideally holding 2 or more coaching qualifications in sailing, windsurfing, powerboating, kayaking, paddleboarding, high ropes (ERCA), indoor climbing, or archery. Training will be provided in other activities, but previous experience in leading raft building, team building, and orienteering will be an advantage.

Contracts vary from full-time, fixed term and six month contracts to flexible 0-40 hours per week. Contracts will include some evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Rates of pay are competitive for the industry and based on experience and qualifications, reduced rate camping is also available for anyone living outside of the region. The wider package of benefits includes free access to our equipment for your personal development and a discount across other South West Lakes products and services including our cafes.
