launch.
As sea users prepare to take to the water this season,
the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is preparing to
launch their second interactive CD designed to aid all sea users.

The-safety CD-ROM in a bid to help sailors and sport
divers alike stay safe at sea.
RNLI 2004 statistics show, 3134 lifeboat launches were to the
aid of people involved in water sports and sailing around
60 every week*. In many cases, the upset of the callout could
have been avoided if sea users were aware of simple safety guidelines.
As part of the RNLIs programme of sea safety
advice, the new interactive CD-ROM is aimed at all sea users
from sailors and power boaters to dinghy sailors and personal
water craft (jetski) enthusiasts whether novice or professional,
and is crammed full of interactive games, animations and video
clips specifically tailored to their chosen pursuit.
Building on the highly acclaimed success of its
predecessor, The Sea Safety CD is packed with hints and tips from
the experts to help you stay safe at sea. New and updated sections
of the CD-ROM include -
- Clothing
- Sea Survival
- Fire
- Flares
- Weather and tides
- Lifejackets
- Man Over Board
- EPIRBS
RNLI Sea Safety Co-ordinator, Tony Wafer, explains:
Our new free and interactive CD-ROM means that its
now easier than ever for sea users to get their hands on the latest
safety advice. Its easy to navigate and offers all sea users
instant access to a wealth of crucial safety news and information.
The RNLI is committed to saving lives at sea and a fundamental
part of this is increasing safety awareness amongst sea users
to avoid dangerous situations arising in the first place.
Rescues and safety awareness programmes are key
parts of the RNLIs work. To stay in touch with the latest
safety advice, sea users can sign up for the RNLIs Offshore
membership. Designed for leisure sea users who are most likely
to need the services of the RNLI, Offshore is recommended for
everyone taking to the water.
